Life advice during our car rides over the past few days LOL. Please excuse me for trying to put things into terms which a 3/4 year old can understand hahahaha. Figuring it out as I go hahaha. But I like that it seems like he gets me.... I just honestly didn't expect to be talking about these kind of things with him at so early on in life. Reminds me of my cousins, Irene, Cielo, and Ed, my first children hahahaha!
1) Winning and Losing:
Me: If you win, that's cool, it's nice to win, but instead of making fun of someone who lost, you should still say, "Nice try" and "Good job" to everyone else, because they might be sad that they didn't win, like when you are sad when you don't win, right?
William: Yah, I get sad if I don't win.
Me: And saying those things will help them feel better and it means you are a being a good friend. But if you lose, you should still say "Good job" or "Congratulations" to the one who won, because you can always try again next time. It's okay if you don't win all of the time, sometimes we win and sometimes we lose, but what's important is that no matter what, we are always nice people.
*We then later have a seat belt "race", and I beat William in buckling the fastest.*
William: Good job Mommy!
Me: Good job to you too, William! Nice try! Maybe next time you will win! [not likely b/c I'm too competitive, JK!!!]
2) What Birthdays are Really About:
Me: It's great that your birthday is today, but remember, it's not about how many gifts you get, it's about spending time with your family and friends and being happy together and thankful that God lets us keep growing up to be bigger and bigger every day!
William: I love you Mommy, I am very happy today!
3) Eating:
Me: It's okay to have a little candy or dessert here and there, but you have to make sure you don't eat too much of those things because they don't really help you to grow and be healthy. You have to eat healthy food so that you can grow. Like your fish, your chicken, your vegetables, those help you grow!!!
William: Yah, and if you eat too much candy, you will get cavities!
Me: Exactly.
